![]() 145 years. That is the collective number of years of experience in supporting people with developmental disabilities that came together for Brown Bag Lunch in January. Brown Bag Lunch is a monthly "lunch and learn" that is hosted by Howard County Service Coordination for the county service providers. Most months the participants discuss rules and regulations, division directives, guidelines and procedures. This month participants from Howard County Service Coordination, Endless Options, and the Braun Agency paused to take a moment to celebrate the New Year, look back at where we have been, and focus on where we are going. Together. During discussion the group shared what brought them to work in the field. Answers varied but the overreaching theme was that most came for a college practicum or a job to get through college. Very few chose to make a career of working in this field. This field has a way of choosing us. We laughed at the shared moments of joy and agreed about the challenges that we face daily. When you have that many years of experience in one place, great things can happen. And they are happening every day.
